Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association Welcomes Waabi as Newest Member

Washington, D.C. - The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) announced today that Waabi is joining the organization as its newest member. As the leading and unified trade association advocating for autonomous vehicles (AVs), AVIA continues to expand its diverse membership to advocate for the many safety, mobility and economic benefits offered by the technology.

“We are excited Waabi is joining our group of industry leaders, working together for safer roads and a more resilient supply chain,” said Jeff Farrah, AVIA’s Executive Director. “Waabi’s experience with autonomous trucks and cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) will contribute to AVIA’s efforts to transform how goods move from place to place, while creating jobs and supporting economic growth.”

“Autonomy has the power to transform trucking and pave the way toward safer roads,” said Raquel Urtasun, Founder and CEO of Waabi. “Our unique approach represents a major paradigm shift and is the key to unlocking this technology. By joining AVIA, we’re able to bring even greater transparency to this industry and focus on safely deploying autonomous vehicle technology.”

Multiple studies have identified the wide ranging benefits autonomous trucking is poised to have on the US economy. A 2021 study funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation found that long-haul autonomous trucks would create up to 35,100 jobs per year, spur $111 billion in investment across the economy, and increase GDP by more than $68 billion over the next three decades.

Waabi is taking an AI-first approach to solve autonomy at scale. The company recently unveiled its core solution, the Waabi Driver: the next generation of AI-led autonomous trucking technology. Designed for factory-level OEM integration, large-scale commercialization, and safe deployment, the Waabi Driver marks the next step forward in trucking and logistics.
