The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association works with lawmakers, regulators, and the public to realize the safety and societal benefits of autonomous vehicles (AVs).
The Association is comprised of companies with technical expertise and experience in the technology, automobile, and transportation network sectors. Bringing together their varied backgrounds, the companies formed the Association to advance AVs' tremendous safety, mobility and economic benefits to consumers in the safest and swiftest manner possible.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has projected that AVs could significantly reduce the severity and frequency of crashes and fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 43,000 lives were lost on U.S. roads in 2021. Thousands of road accidents are caused by human error, including drunk, reckless and distracted driving.
AV technology has the great potential to improve public safety, enhance mobility for the elderly and disabled, reduce traffic congestion, improve environmental quality, address inequity, boost supply chains, create jobs and advance transportation efficiency.
