Volkswagen Group of America Joins the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association

Washington, D.C. - Today, the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) welcomed Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA), a leader in the development of autonomous vehicles (AVs) and the U.S. subsidiary of one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers, as the newest member.
“As a leader in automobile manufacturing and automotive innovation, we are excited Volkswagen Group of America, represented by its ADMT unit (Autonomous Driving for Mobility and Transport as a Service) is joining AVIA,” said Jeff Farrah, executive director. “Volkswagen’s vision for both commercial and personal autonomous driving supports AVIA’s mission to promote the promise of AV safety, mobility and economic opportunities across the globe.”
As the unified voice of the AV industry, AVIA advocates for the safe and timely deployment of autonomous driving technology to increase road safety, boost supply chains and improve mobility opportunities for all. In a sign of its growth and the industry’s progress, the trade association recently announced the hiring of its first Executive Director. Volkswagen Group of America is joining AVIA’s members which include Aurora, Cruise, Embark, Ford, Gatik, Kodiak, Lyft, May Mobility, Motional, Navya, Nuro, TuSimple, Uber, Volvo Cars, Waymo and Zoox.

Autonomous driving is a core component of Volkswagen AG’s NEW AUTO strategy for passenger cars and Mobility and Transportation as a Service (MaaS/TaaS).
