Self-Driving Coalition Statement on Senate Commerce Markup
Washington, D.C. - The Self-Driving Coalition released the below statement from general counsel Ariel Wolf following today’s Senate Commerce Committee markup:
“The Self-Driving Coalition thanks Senator Thune for his continued leadership on the future of autonomous vehicles, and we are encouraged that Chair Cantwell and the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee have committed to advancing federal AV legislation before the end of the year. While the exclusion of AV legislation from current surface transportation reauthorization bills reflects yet another missed opportunity to save lives, create American jobs, expand the U.S. economy and provide greater mobility access, the Self-Driving Coalition looks forward to working with the Committee on a legal framework that paves the way for AVs’ safety, mobility, economic and environmental benefits.”
