AV Industry Statement on NHTSA Administrator Confirmation

Washington, DC - Today, the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) congratulates Dr. Steven Cliff on his confirmation as NHTSA Administrator:

“The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association (AVIA) looks forward to working with Dr. Cliff on policies to move forward autonomous vehicles’ testing and deployment, helping to achieve USDOT and the industry’s shared goal of safer roads and highways,” said general counsel Ariel Wolf. “The U.S. lost over 43,000 people to vehicle crashes in 2021. We share the Department’s belief that the status quo is unacceptable and that autonomous vehicles can save lives. Americans need the federal government to champion AV technology as part of a comprehensive strategy to improve roadway safety.”
